Bordeaux Hotel Ideas

Bordeaux HotelsTempted by cheap hotels in Bordeaux? France was the world’s most popular tourism destination last year despite the world’s economic woes, attracting 74 million visitors, and Bordeaux is one of its most popular cities. According to Atout France, the country’s tourism organisation, the number of travelers heading to France this year has so far been “very positive”, with large numbers of people taking advantage of cheap hotel deals. Why not become one of them and find your very own cheap deal in the wonderful city of Bodeaux?

As one of the world’s most famous wine regions, there is certainly no shortage of things to do in Bordeaux in its Left Bank and Right Bank regions. This summer’s festivities will culminate with the Bordeaux Wine Festival, which takes place between June 24th and 27th.

This year’s wine spectacular will feature a food workshop for the first time, alongside tasting sessions organised by the Bordeaux Wine Council School. With the festival accommodating a 2km-long ‘wine road’, this is an event that holidaymakers taking advantage of a hotel deal will not want to miss.

Still not made up your mind about a cheap hotel? Why not consider the 3-star Mercure Bordeaux Le Lac, which is located close to the impressive Aquitaine Bridge. After sampling some of the region’s famous wine and local cuisine, visitors can wind down in the hotel’s attractive bar and lounge. Further local attractions include the Colbert Ship Museum, and the beautiful Jardin botanique de Bordeaux and Jardin botanique de la Bastide, where visitors can sit quietly and watch the world of the city drift leisurely past them.

In terms of hotels, a budget option is the Hotel Premiere Classe Bordeaux Est-Lormont, which offers rooms from just £35 per night. Located close by is Bordeaux’s Place de la Bourse, a stunning square flanked by the city’s Stock Exchange and Customs Museum.Guests are able to use the hotel’s bar and restaurant and use the complimentary parking facilities.

The city is also full of culture: some of its galleries and museums, from the Musée des Beaux Arts – which houses some of the most impressive fine art in the country – to the Casa de Goya, and the Musée d’Histoire Naturelle, are all fine collections, not to mention fine architectural accomplishments, and the city’s university breeds a fertile café culture, so can always entangle themselves in an interesting conversation with the locals.

For shopaholics, the Rue Sainte-Catherine is a must. The longest shopping street in Europe, any budding fashionistas will certainly struggle not to drop when they shop, with so much on offer. Like the arcade and promenade culture present in late Victorian cities, the Rue Sainte-Catherine combines shopping with sight-seeing in a way that makes it perfect for most visitors.

The city has plenty to offer, and plenty of cheap hotels to match it’s many attractions. For travelers on a budget, then, Bordeaux is a definite must, and even for those are not – some of us like to indulge – Bordeaux is certainly one of europe’s most interesting, intriguing and underrated cities.
